07 / 2011 - Speed Up a Slow Computer by Adding Additional Memory
Adding, or upgrading memory, can prolong the life of an older computer. Even newer computers can benefit from installing additional memory (also called RAM). The prices remain very reasonable. On a recent upgrade, memory was doubled from 4GB to 8GB on a Dell Optiplex 980 for under $50 (for the memory). We have price reductions for simple hardware installations that do not require troubleshooting or diagnostic services. Use the Contact Information link at the top of the page to discuss the available options for upgrading the memory in a desktop or laptop computer.

07 / 2011 - Recycle Your Cyberjunk at UA BookStores [Link]
The University of Arizona BookStores is hosting the fourth annual Cyberjunk Collection July 13 through July 16, from 10:00am to 4:00pm. This event encourages people to bring in their old or unused technology components to the University of Arizona campus to be recycled in an environmentally-friendly fashion. Donations can be dropped off at the UA BookStores loading dock at Mountain Ave. & Campus Drive (just south of Speedway Blvd.) between 10:00 am and 4:00pm.

Many people might not be aware that old computer components contain toxic chemicals that can leak out into the ground when they are tossed into a landfill. The Cyberjunk Collection provides a safe disposal alternative to simply throwing these items away and prevents hazardous chemicals from ever impacting the environment. All recycling is completed in the United States.

To participate, simply bring old or unused computers, monitors, fax machines, scanners, desktop-size copy machines, CD drives, hard drives, TVs, VCRs, projectors, overhead projectors, networking equipment, cables, and peripherals to the UA BookStores loading dock at Mountain Ave. & Campus Drive (just south of Speedway Blvd.) between 10:00 am and 4:00pm beginning July 13th and ending July 16th.

Please note that UA BookStores cannot accept computer components owned by the University of Arizona. For more information visit uabookstores.arizona.edu/cyberjunk or call 520-626-4103.
